For a number of years now, we have been seeing the random appearance of this problem of attack on polyurethane products. These attacks mainly occur in a damp environment:<\/strong> water circuits operating in a closed or semi-open cycle (low renewal of new water).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stagnant water, temperature, confined and poorly ventilated areas, flocculants and various other factors are conducive to hydrolysis or bacterial growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, researchers have shown that a fungus of the \u2018Pestalotiopsis Microspora\u2019 type is a species of endophytic fungus capable of decomposing and digesting polyurethane in an anaerobic environment. Chinese researchers have also recently discovered a new type of fungus, Aspergillus tubingensis, which also destroys polyurethane. Our various discussions with specialists and laboratory technicians also point in this direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Restrictions on the use of certain mercury-based chemicals in the manufacture of polyurethanes has led to polyurethane modular fabrics<\/a> or pavers<\/a>being more sensitive to the external environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aware that this degradation is a significant problem for our customers, we are constantly working with our raw materials suppliers on this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
