Year-end 2022: between festivities and 2023 prospects

Like every year-end, gifts and good resolutions are the order of the day at Giron! And so 2022 draws to a close, with a mix of small gestures to employees and reflections on energy consumption.

Giron ends 2022 on a festive note...

At Giron, December is the month to celebrate. Indeed, as every year, the company's CSE has decided to offer employees a gourmet hamper worth €150. And not just one, but several types of themed baskets are on offer! Aperitifs, wines, terrines, jars, pieces of meat or poultry: our employees particularly appreciate being able to choose the contents of their basket. What's more, the CSE also offers Giron employees sales of oysters and Champagne at specially negotiated prices.

For an even more festive Christmas, and a little ahead of schedule, every employee who so wished also had the opportunity to enjoy a cabaret-themed show at the beginning of December. The evening was organized by the Grand Châtellerault Works Council, of which Giron is a member.

In anticipation of the rigors of winter, Giron also decided to equip all its employees with a cold kit. The management gave them a set comprising a hat, a fleece jacket and a sleeveless down jacket, all proudly bearing the company logo.

... and prepares the company's future

cAs you know, energy-related issues will be crucial for many companies in 2023. That's why Giron wants to be one step ahead at a time when energy contingencies are becoming ever more pressing. We have just renewed our gas contract for the next 3 years, with a coefficient 3 price increase. The electricity contract will be renegotiated in August. Here too, according to the latest forecasts, rates are set to rise by a factor of 3 or 4, barring any government solutions to mitigate the increase.

These issues naturally lead the company to ask questions about its energy consumption. With a view to anticipating and preparing the company's future, Giron is thinking about self-consumption, including the installation of solar panels. This project could be carried out individually or collaboratively. On Thursday December 15, the company took part in a meeting organized by Grand Châtellerault to discuss the development of a local photovoltaic project. This would be a joint project involving the many companies located in the Sanital and North Châtellerault zones. The aim of the program will be to use solar panels to produce enough energy to meet the company's own consumption needs. Once their specific needs have been met, each company will then be able to distribute the surplus to neighboring businesses that need it.

In addition, various discussions on energy consumption issues are underway with a number of partners, such as MEDEF and UIMM. We are deploying these various projects and partnerships with a view to ensuring Giron's energy sustainability.
