Unique, ancestral know-how
Châtellerault: a metallurgical basin
In 1819, a royal decree officially established the Châtellerault arms factory. At the time, the town was renowned for its fine cutlery and craftsmanship. The flagship of the arms industry for almost 150 years, the Manufacture d'Armes closed its doors in 1960. La Manu made Châtellerault one of France's most important metallurgy regions. In 1962, the Giron company set up shop here, recruiting experienced local workers and contributing to the preservation and transmission of a unique know-how.
Promoting and passing on know-how
Our company's history has forged our values. Passing on know-how through the generations is therefore one of our priorities, and we attach particular importance to the training of all our employees. When someone joins our team, whether qualified or not, we take the time to train them in the various aspects of our metalworking professions. Among our core values, this passion for tradition and craftsmanship is shared by all our employees, and this motivation is a driving force for excellence in our specialized industry.
Giron: a Living Heritage Company
Our company has also benefited from the EPV label, Entreprise du Patrimoine vivant, since 2012. This is an official national label that distinguishes French companies with outstanding craftsmanship and industrial know-how. Giron's know-how is unique and ancestral. This label recognizes our continuing efforts to maintain this know-how in-house. We remain one of the last companies in France to specialize in screen cloth.
Our CSR approach
Engaging our own CSR approach (Corporate Social Responsibility) was also an obvious choice. In this context, we think and act to contribute to the challenges of sustainable development on a daily basis. We have already made structural investments within our company, such as renovating our buildings. We have also upgraded our heating system from oil to gas, which consumes less energy. Further steps are currently being considered for 2022, notably on the subject of waste treatment.
Our CSR approach also includes an important social component, which is deployed at the level of all our employees. In 2022, we will be monitoring the implementation of the new metallurgy agreement, which will provide us with an opportunity to work in depth on the social aspects of the metallurgy professions.
People first!
We have many ongoing and future projects that will only come to fruition thanks to the men and women we work with every day.
We put people at the heart of our business, because we believe that they are the driving force behind all development.
Giron is a company where people will always have their place. Our workers will never be replaced by robots. After all, we carry out a great deal of shaping work that can only be done by hand. Not to mention the fact that we work on machines that we design and build ourselves, on our own premises, to be perfectly suited to our business.
We're a bit like the last of the Mohicans in terms of craftsmanship, which is why we try every day to pass on our knowledge through what we do.
